Accessing Wellness and Resilience in Education (AWARE)

The AWARE program, supported by the Tuolumne County Superintendent of Schools, is dedicated to providing accessible, equitable mental health services for students, families, and educational staff in Tuolumne County. Through strong partnerships and community collaboration, we aim to foster wellness, resilience, and mental health awareness across our schools.

Our Mission

To enhance the mental wellness and resilience of students and families in Tuolumne County by increasing access to mental health resources, supporting high-risk youth, and creating a safe, supportive environment in collaboration with schools and community partners.

Terri Alford

Mental Health Coordinator

Terri has over a decade of experience supporting youth and family mental health in Sonora. With a background in family outreach and counseling, she is passionate about enhancing mental health resources in Tuolumne County. Terri enjoys hiking, swimming, and traveling.

Elizabeth Beutter

Mental Health Navigator

Elizabeth is passionate about mental health advocacy and supporting students and families. With a BA in psychology and an MA in counseling psychology, she focuses on helping individuals overcome barriers to wellness. Outside work, Elizabeth enjoys road trips, camping, and spending time with her family and rescue animals.

Miko Allen, LCSW

Mental Health Clinician

Miko Allen specializes in working with teens and young adults, helping them manage stress and improve self-awareness. With a background in clinical social work and over nine years in mental health, Miko brings a solution-focused approach to her practice. She enjoys camping, fishing, and off-roading in her Jeep.

Maria Barajas, LCSW

Mental Health Clinician

Maria brings six years of social services experience and a trauma-informed approach to her work with students and families. Skilled in modalities like Art Therapy and EMDR, she supports diverse populations, including children, Latinx, and LGBTQ+. Maria enjoys hiking in the Sierras and believes in finding beauty in everyday moments.
